St. Modwen has been the mastermind behind Longbridge’s regeneration for over 15 years.
Over that period, their passion and drive for the resurgence of Longbridge has seen a significant number of milestones reached, for which they are rightly proud.
Our Story

2005: Closure of MG ROVER
The Longbridge factory closed its doors for the last time on 15 April 2005.

2007: First new buildings completed
The Longbridge Innovation Centre and Devon Way were the first new buildings to be completed, followed by manufacturing units at The Cofton Centre a year later.

2011: A new Town Centre for Longbridge
Bournville College opened, followed by the Town Centre with a new Sainsbury’s and the three-acre Austin Park.

2013: Hotel invites its first guests
A 75-bedroom hotel was developed for Premier Inn and Beefeater Grill.

2015: M&S opens its doors
Marks & Spencer’s flagship Midlands store and other major retailers opened for business in the town centre.

2017: Longbridge shows it cares
A bespoke, 180-bed medical accommodation for the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine opened. We also welcomed the ExtraCare retirement village, offering 260 beautifully appointed apartments for over 55s.

2019: Tailor-made space
3 Devon Way built-to-suit for Barnett Waddingham. WMCA also completed a 600-space multi-storey car park next to the railway station.

2021: New homes, event space and greenery
Austin Park and Longbridge Lane get new landscaping. Construction starts on the event space at Herbert’s Yard. Over 300 new homes for the town centre begin construction.

2022: West Works
Pending completion of the infrastructure works on the famous West Works site marks a staggering new milestone for Longbridge, creating a new neighbourhood for high tech, research and development businesses as well as 350 new homes granted to begin on site in the Autumn.

2023/24
A whole host of world-leading companies commit to build headquarters and facilities at Longbridge – including Sterling Pharmaceuticals, Waters Corporation, Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital and Allsee Technologies. Sale and development of the land continues at pace.

Looking to the future…
Longbridge will achieve 165% biodiversity net gain through a variety of means including 26 acres of broadleaf forest, one mile of river corridor opened, and 15 Olympic sized swimming pools of ponds.
